Pop singer John Newman was born John William Peter Newman in Settle, North Yorkshire, England on June 16th, 1990. He was influenced by the sounds of northern soul and motown while growing up. By the time he was 14 he already taught himself to write songs and also play guitar. At 16 he moved to Leeds so he could further pursue his music. By 20 he moved again, this time to London where he started  a band. During that time they would play live while touring local clubs and bars. This led to him signing a deal with Island Records, and finally he released his debut single in 2013. Since then, he has become highly successful and continues to sell out concerts around the world.
