While being raised by his grandmother, he took an interest in rap music at the young age of 5 years old. He used his mothers karaoke machine and some blank tapes to record his music on. Chief Keef would gain recognition in his local area by 2011 when he released 2 mixtapes. The first mixtape was titled The Glory Road and his second mixtape was titled Bang. While under house arrest the rapper uploaded a few music videos to his Youtube channel. This would catapult Keef’s career to the forefront and start the rap genre now known as “drill music.”
