By 1997 he landed a production contract with Sony Music with help from Bobby Braddock. In 2001 he continued on to sign a deal with Giant Records and released his debut single, Austin. It spent 5 weeks at #1 on Billboard Hot Country Songs. But shortly after the songs release Giant Records closed down and Blake was transferred to Warner Bros. Records which was the parent company.
