Maroon 5 is a pop rock band that formed in the Los Angeles, California area. The original 4 members of the band were Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden and Ryan Dusick. They formed a band in high school called Karas Flowers based on a collective crush they all had on a girl named Kara. They released a debut album in 1997 through Reprise Records. Due to the album having mediocre sells, the band would part ways from the label and left for college. In 2001 James Valentine joined the band, and they switched their name to Maroon 5. They ended up signing a deal with Octone Records and releasing their Songs About Jane album in 2002. The band has continued on to sell more then 15 million albums worldwide and win 3 GRAMMY’s. They continue to top the charts today and sell out shows.
