American r&b singer and songwriter Joe was born Joseph Lewis Thomas in Columbus, Georgia on July 5th, 1973. While growing up his family moved to Opelika, Alabama where he graduated high school in 1990. During his childhood he developed a passion for music so he started singing and writing his own songs. While working in a gospel record store he met producer Vincent Herbert which led to him signing a deal with Jive Records in 1997. He released his All That I Am album that same year, furthermore experiencing mainstream success.
